Driver: San Francisco Needs The Internet

by on July 27, 2011

Internet only

Ubisoft love the internet enough to join with it at the hip. At least, Driver: San Francisco for the PC does, as it will require the cold umbilicus of connectivity the entire time it’s running. This is in stark contrast to the silent patchings of January that resolved this point of contention with popular titles such as Assassin’s Creed 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Rather than use a massively restrictive DRM, the PS3 and Xbox versions will debut the latest in content control from Ubisoft. The Uplay Passport system will use a unique one-use code to allow each copy and player to access any online features such as multiplayer matches.

Now, is that so hard to implement for the PC? Probably not, but why bother with a new system when the old one can release a fount of hate?
