Notch has been slaving away in the Mojang Laboratory and has created these ghoulish fiends! What are they? No one knows. As you can clearly see, one of them is carrying what looks like a sand block. It seems that this new mob might be able to mine blocks, whether it can mine more complex things like cobblestone and diamond is uncertain. What is certain is that these things look like they come from the Twilight Zone. This new mob could be quite fun and also give traps in single player more use.

Notch tweeted the name and the nature of these creatures. They are called the Endermen. Apparently if you look at them they become hostile, but will only run towards you if you look away. They almost remind me of the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who, except less scary.
