Let’s Play Spotlight: HCBailly

“Hello! This is HCBailly and welcome back to…” is the signature opening line of this youtuber. Starting out with Final Fantasy, HCBailly has plowed through many games to be where he is today in the world of Let’s Play.

I first started watching HCBailly back when he was in the middle of going through Final Fantasy VIII. What I heard was a magnetic personality that had an endless capacity for entertainment (unless he was doing long side quests). HCBailly uses a commentary style format along with some jokes here and there. In his Let’s Plays he always completes the game 100%: all treasures, all hidden bosses defeated, all sidquests completed, etc. So sometimes watching can be a bit irksome, but generally he takes out most of the backtracking and duplicate monster battles (you can just skip the episodes as well or fast forward through side quests). Despite the inevitable lull in action during games, HCBailly manages to keep his viewers interested. HCBailly also has excellent gaming strategies, some of which I have found very useful in games, due to research he conducts prior to putting a game up on youtube. Each segment is around fifteen minutes and he uploads Monday through Friday once a day unless the disc or game is coming to a close.

HCBailly has Let’s Played various games over the years including:

Final Fantasy

Chrono Trigger

Link’s Awakening

Final Fantasy IX

Dragon Warrior

Lufia and the Fortress of Doom

And much more…

HCBailly’s main catchphrase is: “…a hidden/secret (insert object here)!” Generally the secret object is a treasure chest (secret treasure!) or staircase/ladder.

HCBailly is currently doing a main Let’s Play of Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals (European Version) and a side Let’s Play of Seiken Densetsu III (Kevin’s Path).

Overall HCBailly receives 5 out of 5 for his Let’s Play Youtube channel. His witty dialogue and strategic skills in gaming will always keep a gamer on top while following his guidelines.
