Red Fly Studios Layoff Came from Cancelled Star Wars Game, Reports Suggest
Earlier this month, we reported on Red Fly Studios’ layoff of 30 of their employees. It was known at the time that the layoff came on the heels of the surprising cancellation of a major production. Today, information has been discovered that suggests that the game in development may have been a next-generation Star Wars game.
Internet snoop superannuation discovered and subsequently tweeted the LinkedIn resume of laid off Red Fly artist Patrick Doran, which included the description, “next-gen Star Wars game.” Not listed on Doran’s resume was his former position as a grocery bagger, though the relevance of that is debatable.
The majority of Doran’s work with Red Fly was on Wii titles, so suspicion would be there was a Star Wars game planned for release on the Wii-U, though it very well could have been a PS3 or 360 release. Doran’s been involved with games on every system and has worked on Star Wars games in the past as well. No comment has come from Red Fly or LucasArts, though LucasArts tried to do a Jedi mind trick and make everyone forget that it ever happened. No word on if it worked, but these aren’t the droids I’m looking for.
