QuakeCon 2011

If you haven’t already heard, QuakeCon will begin Thursday, August 24th 2011 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, TX at 9:00 AM, and will continue until Saturday. The event will feature public demos and exclusive playable content for all attendees. Astoundingly, the event is FREE for general admission, thanks to the generosity of Bethesda Softworks (I love you guys…but why are you suing Interplay?) and the event staff. This year’s QuakeCon will include:

  • A keynote address from John Carmack, the co-founder and executive director of id Software
  • Todd Howard Game Director of Bethesda Studios will demo The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • Chris Rhineheart, Project Lead at Human Head Studios will demo Prey 2
  • Matt Hooper, design director for RAGE will demo the game, and attendees will get a chance to play it themselves on the show floor

More details as they emerge! Register to attend QuakeCon today at: http://registration.quakecon.org/.

No Doom 4 though… probably will be revealed later same month in Cologne (hopefully).

Please note: Quakecon 2011 actually opens Thursday August 4th, and continues until Saturday August 7th.

Part of the reason it’s free is because it’s mostly volunteer organized and run. Anyone can volunteer. It can be the best way to meet the nicest and most interesting people at Quakecon. Stop by and see me at the Volunteer Desk and we’ll get you started!
