As you probably know, Tribes is coming back looking better than ever and is going to be completely free to play. In a world where traditionally PC games are becoming more and more console friendly to expand markets (cough, Skyrim), it is both reassuring and welcome that the upcoming Tribes: Ascend will be a major upgrade that remains true to its PC roots. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Hi-Rez Studios Co-founder Todd Harris detailed:
“I will say that our first initial focus is the PC as far as what we’re developing on, testing on, and as far as availability we’re focused first on the PC,” he said. “One; because that’s where people associate the franchise, that was its home, and two; because we do want to be able to deliver updates for it, and as we were saying we think that’s the strongest platform for it right now.”
Along with what seems a billion other major games, Tribes: Ascend will be released late this year. Enjoy the gravity-defying FPS goodness.
