Playstation Plus, the subscription based service from Sony, reaches its first birthday this week, and Sony is celebrating with a special offer: Buy three months, get one free or buy a one year subscription and get three months free.
Some of the benefits of Playstation Plus listed on Sony’s blog include free games, discounts, automatic downloads, early beta access, and “full trial games,” which is a fascinating concept. Can you get a trial of a full trial to make sure that you want to get the full trial of a game? These are questions that need answering, Sony.
This deal comes as a limited offer that was more than likely put in place to entice those who are currently enjoying the service for free to stick around. While Sony has the right idea with the deal, one has to imagine there are better times to ask people to enter their personal account information to make a purchase than right after you compromised that exact same information and the service you’re asking them to spend money on was down for a month. It’s like going into a store that whenever you swipe your credit card, your information is flashed up on a giant theater-sized screen but now they’re like, “yeah, it shows up on the screen but we ask everyone to look away now so you’re safe.” Let the healing process begin.
