The elite market research firm NDA has released a series of tantalizing gaming statistics in their effort to best understand the gaming industry as it stands. A graph taken from the in depth survey shows that since 2008 the XBOX 360 has been selling nearly twice as many online capable products (such as 360 digital points) than the PS3, though both systems vastly outsell the Wii in this niche.
The study also points to so called “digital gamers,” casual gamers that view and purchase content digitally, as the fastest growing market in the industry. This should be a cause for worry among “core gamers,” who already inhabit a gaming industry leaning toward accessibility over excellence. The study also showed a slight increase in sales of gimmicky new motion sensitive controllers and a slight decrease in stereoscopic 3D capable software.
