Crytek Co-Founder Thinking About TimeSplitters
If this story was simply that someone was thinking about TimeSplitters, it would be the most obvious piece of news ever delivered. Rarely does a day go by when a gamer is not reminded of the excellence that is the TimeSplitters series, specifically the second installment. However, this is the first time someone who could actually bring a new TimeSplitters game to life has mentioned it. Avni Yerli, the co-founder of Crytek stated in an interview with NowGamer that while there are, “no concrete plans yet,” he did acknowledge the past success of the franchise and said the Crytek team is “interested in the [intellectual property].”
Yerli said in his interview that his team is interested in the game and that “[Crytek is] thinking about it but we’re trying to decide what we could do best with the IP, where we could bring it.” Crytek, best known for its Crysis series and CryENGINE graphics and gaming engine that has pushed the envelope for visual quality, purchased TimeSplitters’ original developer in 2009. Since Free Radical has fallen into Crytek’s wheelhouse, there have been whispers of a new TimeSplitters. The news story is awaited by hundreds of thousands of nerds who continue to carry new pairs of pants so they will immediately have something to change into after the announcement is made and the pair they are wearing are soiled.
