J.K. Rowling and Sony: A New Harry Potter Experience Awaits
The world of Harry Potter is an expansive and unique one that has charmed millions of fans for years, first with a series of seven books, and now with eight movie adaptations. With the last movie set to release next month, there may have been some concern of Potterverse withdraws. J.K. Rowling and the good people over at Sony have a solution, and it was announced earlier today.
A video featuring Mrs. Rowling was unveiled today over on Sony’s Site and Youtube as well as the actual Pottermore site in which the author announces “a new online reading experience unlike any other…[that] will be built, in part, by you, the reader…”. What this means to readers, is that the books will become interactive, allowing fans to create their own little witches and wizards, get their own wands and get sorted into one of the four houses.
Pottermore will also allow fans purchase digital audio books as well as e-books of the Harry Potter series. If that was not enough, Rowling also announced that the site will contain previously undisclosed information on the Harry Potter world, tidbits and knowledge Rowling has kept to herself thus far as well as newly penned material about the world of Harry Potter written exclusively for Pottermore.
While the Pottermore website is fairly bare bones right now, interested parties can join a mailing list to be notified of updates, and some additional information is available on the far right of the page about a chance to get into Pottermore early with a date of July 31 set for more information on early entrance.
