No Upscaling For Wii Games

Nintendo destroys all hopes for prettier Wii games on your Wii U.

We discovered early this week that the Wii U will be able to play all of your Wii games and support all of your current controllers. We also found out that the new console will not support GameCube optical discs. Now, we have discovered that, despite many hopeful wishes, the Wii U will not upscale or filter last generation games in any way.  Basically, if you put a Wii game in to your new Wii U console, it will look exactly the same as it did before.

If you had dreams of popping in your Twilight Princess disc and reveling in pretty HD graphics, I’m sorry. Though I suppose this opens the door for Nintendo to release their own remastered collections of popular Wii games, should they choose so. I guess it depends on how much Nintendo likes money… Oh. Right.
