Get ready to return to Luigi’s Mansion, this time on your 3DS!

Nintendo of America’s president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime tooks the stage at the company’s E3 press junket today to discuss the future of their platforms through upcoming games.  Among the familiar titles that have already been announced, a new one slipped by during his video presentation for upcoming 3DS software: Luigi’s Mansion 2.

Reggie made sure to address the game specifically, showcasing a few gameplay moments of the new ghost-busting adventure.  The sequel looks very similar to the original Luigi’s Mansion, which was a launch title for the GameCube in 2001.  The title character will use his flashlight to startle supernatural residents of the mansion and then proceed to suck them in with a vacuum.

Very little information was revealed about the game unfortunately, but hopefully some details will arrive shortly.  Luigi’s first adventure was one of my favorite GameCube experiences and I know that I’m not alone in anticipating a return to his haunted mansion.
