External Intrusion Caused PSN Failure

Sony confirmed last night via its PlayStation Blog, that it was an “external intrusion” that caused the PlayStation Network to shut down as of April 20.

The issue also affected the company’s Qriocity service, forcing Sony to manual shut it off while they conduct an investigation as to how the intrusion came to be.

No ETA, however,  has been given as to when the service is expected to be back online.

“Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience. We will continue to update you promptly as we have additional information to share,” said Sony in a statement.

Not the best way to have PS3 owners spend a holiday weekend is it?
