Microsoft is relying on the Kinect to be a huge holiday hit. They have committed around $400 millio to promote this new gaming experience controller free. This $400 million is going into marketing everything from soda cans to cereal boxes, while all over the Internet and TV and gaming magazines.
One of Microsofts general managers says that Kinect is going to be one of the largest marketing project in Xbox History. Almost as much as the initial launch of the original Xbox in 2000, which spent approximately $500 on marketing.
The Marketing strategy is in involvement with bigger companies such as Burger King, Pepsi, and even Kelloggs. These marketing strategies are hopefully going to get the name out there for the Kinect. They are also taking ove YouTube, and even using Nickelodeon and Disney. The Launch of the System will be November 4th
Its not suprising to me that Microsoft wants to spend this much money. They are trying to compete with the Wii and the new Playstation move. We will just have to see exactly how well these marketing strategies work out for them in our Holiday season
