Today, a new trailer for Pacific Rim (not the movie, but the upcoming fighting game) was shown. This trailer has received somewhat negative feedback, with a grand total of 33 thumbs ups on Youtube and 104 thumbs down.
Why do people seem to dislike it so much? The answer is twofold. The first is that most games based on movies tend to be mediocre at best (and the same can easily be said for the other way around). The second reason is a bit more shallow, however.
People have disliked the game because the trailer makes it look like a PlayStation 1 game. People laughed at the trailer when a building collapsed, likening it to “Collapsing like legos” as one commentor put it. Several other complained about “PS1 graphics “, and one even pondered, “This game is going to compete with Dark. Who has the worst graphics?”
Will Pacific Rim prove to be one of the few exceptions as far as movies being turned into games is concerned? Or will it be another mediocre game that many dislike?
