It shouldn’t be a surprise after last night’s trailer, but the next PlayStation will be revealed this month.
Polygon said sources have confirmed the reveal this month, with the system set to launch this holiday season against the next Xbox.
Microsoft plans to hold an announcement for its system later this spring, according to the same sources. This would mean E3 won’t be a new system reveal, but would be showing off the tech, features and games that will hit at launch.
“We welcome innovation in the category,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Polygon. “It’s an amazing time for the industry, and an even better time for Xbox 360 owners. At Xbox, we’re focused on making the content you love even more amazing including blockbuster games, and new entertainment experiences. We’re always thinking about what’s next for our platform, but we don’t have anything further to share at this time.”
