Edge Online reportedly has some new information regarding the controller and launch time frame for the PlayStation 4, which Sony may reveal during a Feb. 20 press event, which the company announced this week.
According to the publication, the PS4′s controller will apparently be redesigned and come with a small touchpad in place of the Select, Start and PS buttons currently found on the DualShock controller. Sources tell Edge Online that the technology used for that touchpad will be based on the PlayStation Vita’s rear touchpad. In addition, a Share button will supposedly be on the controller that will let users not only take screenshots but also share video of whatever they’re currently playing, online. The PS4 is rumored to record the most recent 15 minutes of gameplay, which would let users edit and broadcast.
As for the PlayStation 4 launch, Edge Online says sources have informed them that it would launch by Christmas in the U.S. and in Japan, while Europe would get it in early 2014. The PlayStation Eye camera is also rumored to be upgraded and will still work with the PlayStation Move controller.
