Journey´s Soundtrack Up For 7 VGA Nominations And a Grammy Nomination

by on December 6, 2012

The last thing anyone thinks about when they hear Grammy nominations is Video Games. However, the PS3 exclusive and beautifully original downloadable title Journey has a wondrous soundtrack. According to Destructoid, the soundtrack is so awesome that the game´s composer Austin Wintory has been nominated for a 2013 Grammy for his work on Journey. This would make it the first Video Game to ever be nominated. Not surprisingly, the game is up for seven VGA´s on Friday Night because it is one of the standout games of the year.

The Grammy nomination is officially in the category of Best Score or Soundtrack in Visual Media. I mean to be up there with greats like John Williams and Hans Zimmer is a fantastic accomplishment. Even if Journey does not win the award, I´m sure Wintory is proud he can add “Grammy nominated composer” to his CV.

The Grammy Awards are not until February 2013, but you can see how Journey performs at the 10th Anniversary of the Video Game Awards on Spike TV, Tomorrow night at 9ET/8CT.
