The wildly successful Ouya Kickstarter is now over.
“We’ve been blown away the whole time,” Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman said.
The Kickstarter, which originally just wanted to make $950,000, finished at $8,580,682.
“People are ready for something new, and Ouya is that thing,” Uhrman said.
The console now has Namco and Square Enix working on content for it, as well as some multimedia applications and indie titles.
“We never expected to do this well and be this well-received,” Uhrman said. “It’s just truly amazing that it’s resonated so well with gamers and developers.”
Consoles are expected to ship in April 2013, although backers will get their consoles in March 2013.
