Kickstarter is currently home of perhaps, the coolest looking game controller for the iPhone, as the Bladepad, as it is known, is currently looking for funding via the popular website.
The idea behind the Bladepad is that it’s part protective case, and part detachable gamepad.
According to its Kickstarter page, the Gamepad connects to the iPhone 4/4S via Bluetooth in terms of its functionality, while inserting the iPhone into the case, allows you to slide it into place. There’s a video at the bottom of the page if you want to get an idea for how it all comes together.
The gamepad has two analog sticks, a D-pad, standard console buttons, which are all back-lit (with the exception of L1/2 and R1/2), and charges via an included micro USB cable – there’s also a 30-pin adapter, which splits from the USB cable for charging the iPhone. The Bladepad will also be supporting the new iPad, obviously without attaching it to the case, and there will be a version for the upcoming iPhone 5.
The creators are looking for at least a $1 donation, but are offering discounted Bladepads upon it’s (hopeful) December release. It will be sold at $99.99, but those who donate $59 will get the device for that price. If you’re not one of the first 100 to donate, you can still donate $69.99 and get the Bladepad at that price upon its release. There are some other package deals being offered if you pledge a bit more, so check it out here.
And now for that video:
