Nintendo announced today that the Nintendo 3DS has achieved sales of over 17.13 million units worldwide.
The figure covers sales made until the end of March 2012, so it looks like Nintendo continues to make their domination in the handheld market.
Nintendo do expect that sales throughout the next year will improve, marking a return to profitability during the current financial year. This will be helped by a new Brain Age, New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Animal Crossing 3D all releasing in Japan by the end of the year.
Nintendo also expect the launch of the Wii U, which will arrive at retail across Japan, North America and Europe by the end of the calendar year to help push sales of the 3DS as well.
